Do you see the light?
Thursday, May 13, 2010
Have you ever noticed the beetles that fly into your room?
You're totally engrossed in your studies and what not and suddenly,
you hear a sound similar to the ones created when electrical lamps flicker.
Then, you figure that since the lights are not actually flickering,
you come to a conclusion that it has to be a beetle or an insect.

Well, the things is.
Insects actually navigate using the angle at which light is reflected.
The insects that wound up in your room,
are like misguided souls,
oblivious to the predicament that they're in.
The light that radiates from our room's just too bright,
compared to the light that comes from the moon,
or a sun that's about to set.
Technically,
these insects are blinded by the light.

You know we humans are not very different from these insects.
We have targets and goals that are like the light to us.
The light that shows us the very way to our predefined "Success".
The light's good really.
Afterall, nobody likes walking alone in the dark.

But then there's the danger.
Then there's the chance you would be blindly driven by what you want,
and forget all that's around you, even the things you hold dear.
..You lose your sense of direction.

Don't let that happen.
Cause when it does happen,
you'd find yourself going in circles,
colliding repeatedly against superficial, artificial nightlights
while everyone else heads for the stars.

Question.
Is that light you see?
