Passion like a fire.
Saturday, February 20, 2010

When you say passion,
I think of a flame in the dark, burning.

It's the warmth that the flame gives
that actually keeps us going,
because we're comfortable about it
because we love that warmth.

It's the light that the flame gives in the dark,
that drives us to work harder,
because we're fascinated by the light
because we want that light to fill up the dark room.

I believe a passion for something can exist independently
though there are many factors that co-exist.

Friends.
Friends can keep you warm.
They can be the spark that pushes you forward,
the support you can fall back on.

Goals.
The reward at the end of everything is appealing.
If the reward we see in our heads can start a flame,
then maybe a passion will develop.

But

Friends come and go.
They may progress faster than you,
they may choose a different path.
When that happens,
would you be independent enough,
to continue alone?

Are we able to fixate our eyes on the goal,
that exists only in our minds.
The reward may mean alot to us,
but without any light to guide us,
we get lost along the way.

Passion is a strong word
and personally,
without friends to keep me going,
I wouldn't carry on if I lack that flame.

Joel.
